UFC Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling is on a roll and so are those people who supported him since the time he was in controversy for the last fight. Sterling shut the doubters up with his performance at the co-main event of UFC 273 when he defeated former and preceding bantamweight champion, Petr Yan with Sterling having an edge over Yan through his grappling, specifically his back control.
Sterling has now called out former 2-time bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw for his next title defence as Dillashaw too hasn’t fought in a year with his recovery from a serious injury as well, just like Sterling did before taking up the Yan rematch. Dillashaw returned to the Octagon after a 2-year ban by USADA in 2021 and defeated Cory Sandhangen via decision. Dillashaw is one of the most technical strikers in UFC history and Sterling is one exceptionally good grappler in the bantamweight division.

From Sodiq Yusuff to Bryce Mitchell from the featherweight division, to TJ Dillashaw himself and then heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, everyone poured eye-catching reactions, most of them being in favour of Sterling’s successful return to the Octagon after a year layoff.
The fight was a close one and that’s why ended on a split decision note. But regardless, this rematch at UFC 273 has hopefully faded the memory of the first fight between Yan and Sterling where Sterling ended on a receiving end of an illegal blow from Yan, making him the champion via disqualification. Now, this rematch can be the first time as well that Sterling feels he won his much-awaited title shot.
