BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) — Boise mayor Dave Bieter has signed a letter opposing President Donald Trump's decision to leave the Paris Climate Agreement.
“The City of Boise has long been a leader in reducing cities’ impact on climate change,” Bieter said. “We will continue to increase our investments in our renewable energy and energy efficiency programs. We will continue to buy and encourage others to invest in electric cars and trucks for their business fleets and personal use. And we will continue to increase our efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions.”
Over the years, the city has expanded the nation's largest direct-use geothermal energy district, converted 400 streetlights to energy-efficient LEDs, improved its wastewater treatment facilities and constructed new LEED certified buildings including the Library! at Ustick and Bown Crossing, Fire Station No. 8 and 15 and the Boise WaterShed Environmental Education Center.
