BOISE, Idaho (CBS2 News) — It is a great place to go for fresh, healthy, local ingredients. In the heart of downtown, Wild Root is a convenient spot for breakfast, lunch and even dinner!
"We have a lot of local ingredients, and we're very big on brunch, lunch, and just have lots of great, fresh cocktails," says owner Dan Watts.
Wild Root is open for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays.
Watts says Wild Root has a diverse menu that changes seasonally.
"Some of the things we're known for are our Wild Skillet, which is an egg dish with a lot of fresh veggies, more than what you're used to, and all on one big hot skillet, which is awesome, with a bit of cheese," says Watts. "We do everything across the gamut, like a French Dip, which is just kind of elevated. We also have a Forager Sandwich, which is a really delicious vegetarian sandwich that's got all kinds of elements of pickled veggies, lots of mushrooms, and it's super good with garlic aioli. It's one of my new favorites."
Watts says they try to source local ingredients as often as they can."Our ingredients come from everywhere. There's a few local farms that we work with. We get a lot of mushrooms. They're in almost all of our dishes. We use some Snake River Farms beef. Microgreens is another one that we're getting a bunch of. Then I'll look for some other local purveyors for different things, local bakeries, Acme is a big one, Gaston's as well. We support local as much as we can."
Watts is no stranger to the Boise restaurant scene. He also ownsSaint Lawrence GridironandSuite 104.
Watts says he appreciates the community that helps make his businesses possible. He hopes you will stop by for a bite.
"It's just a really fun atmosphere. It's a great place to be," Watts adds.
Wild Root is located at 276 N. 8th St. in Boise.
