Jade Carey has won yet another gold medal for Team USA at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics!

On Monday (August 2), the 21-year-old gymnast stunned judges with her outstanding routine for the floor exercise final. Carey scored a 14.366 — earning her the top spot on the leaderboard. Vanessa Ferrari of Italy won silver while Mai Murakami of Japan and Angelina Melnikova of Russia tied for bronze.

The gold-medal win for Carey comes a day after her rocky performance on vault. According to Sports Illustrated, she tripped and failed to complete a Yurchenko 2 1/2. Her mistakes landed her in eighth place overall.

Prior to the floor exercise final, her father and coach, Brian Carey, consoled her about the performance. He said, “I told her, ‘You might feel like yesterday was one of the worst days of your life, but today can be one of the best days of your life.”

Shoutout to the coaches too! ❤️

On the vault performance, Carey said, “Coming back from a day like yesterday, I’m really proud of myself for being able to put that behind me and finish with probably the best floor routine I’ve ever done in my life. I tripped, I guess, in my hurdle or right before. I don’t really know, it’s kind of a blur right now.”

Carey’s teammate, Simone Biles, also gave her some words of encouragement after the vault final. She said, “Simone, especially, was helping me let it go and move on. She just said, ‘You know, it happened and you can’t do anything about it and let’s go out and kill floor.’ So that’s what I did.”

Following the win, the Olympic gold-medalist took to Instagram to share her reaction. She said, “Olympic Gold Medalist Words can’t even begin to describe how I am feeling right now. Dreams do come true🌟 I am proud of myself for bouncing back and giving it my all. Thank you so much for the love and support.❤️”
