ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) — Kevin Monahan, the New York man accused of shooting and killing a 20-year-old woman in April when she pulled in the wrong driveway, will face murder and other charges following an indictment handed down in Washington County Court.
Monahan is accused of firing a shotgun at the car Kaylin Gillis was riding in when she and some friends accidentally pulled into his driveway on April 15 in the Washington County town of Hebron. One of the two shots fired struck Gillis and killed her.
Monahan is charged with murder, reckless endangerment and tampering with physical evidence.
Police have said Monahan did not cooperate with investigators when they first tried to make contact with him and question him about the shooting. They also said they believed Monahan had no interaction with the group of young adults in the cars they pulled into his driveway.
The Washington County District Attorney's Office has argued Monahan is known to be confrontational and impulsive, citing a prior charge for aggravated assault with a weapon in Vermont that was eventually dismissed and an alleged scene Monahan created at the Washington County DMV last month.
